Mermaid Tales

*Enter my first giveaway here! Open until October 31st 2012*

Today's mermaid tale is about a mermaid's tail (see what I did there?) Ok, I'll stop being lame now and just show you the photos...

Are any of you still reading after this my obnoxious opening sentence? If you are, you will have figured out that these nails were inspired by mermaids, and from the colour combination you can tell that I watched 'The Little Mermaid' more than once as a child. As you can see I've cut my nails fairly short. It wasn't intentional, it was one of those things where you think to yourself "Hmmmm my nails are getting a bit long, I should probably file them back a little". Next thing you know you've filed one of them a bit too much and then have no choice but to do the rest to the other 9 nails. Aren't nail blogger's problems trivial?

The colours I've used are China Glaze's 'For Audrey' topped with one coat of Gloss 'n Sparkle's 'Spectra Flair' top coat (this is an amazing linear holo top coat that I'll show you in more detail some other time, it's most effective with two coats). I've then used a fine nail art brush to paint lines with OPI's 'Do You Lilac It' and finished off with some rose pink glitter pieces that I got from the Born Pretty Store.

Before I go, I very quickly want to let you know about a couple of upcoming collection launches, as well as some info about my Konad Q1 plate:

  • I know after seeing my Candy Land and Sherbet Sparrow designs some of you were lemming after the Konad Q1 plate, however, the plate was a limited edition plate released only in the UK and was quite expensive and difficult to get your hands on if you didn't live there. I have good news! Meliney now stock a copy of the plate, and it even has a couple of little candies on it that my Konad plate doesn't! It's $4.99AU which is much better than the $25 I paid for mine on ebay. I can't give a direct link, but if you visit the Meliney website and then click on 'store' and 'more image plates' it's on page 9 (it's plate MLS301). And yes, they ship worldwide.
  • Gloss 'n Sparkle are releasing their new polishes today (Friday October 12th) at 5:30pm AEST (that's 6:30pm for those of you on daylight savings time). All of their previous polishes will also be restocked in the new bottle shape. Unfortunately, Gloss 'n Sparkle are still only able to ship within Australia, but Angela is still working on sorting something out for you international girls. Don't give up hope! You can check out swatches of some of the new polishes on her facebook page.
  • Rainbow Honey are releasing their Yokai collection for Halloween tomorrow (Saturday October 13th). The collection consists of 3 colours inspired by Japanese spirits. For those of you in Australia, I've worked out that the release time of 12am EST is 2pm in Australia (3pm if you're on daylight savings time). For swatches of these colours check out the facebook page.
  • Pretty Serious have just released their Monster Mash collection for Halloween, as well as their limited edition 'Emma Louise' polish. Make sure you check it out before they're all gone!
